Most of  the above common names have been applied almost equally to either A. cadamba or A. indicus, and to some extent to A. chinensis. It appears that today most taxonomists associate these three species as synonyms and place them either under the name Breonia chinensis (Lam.) Capuron (ex: Madagascar Catalogue), or under Neolamarckia cadamba (Roxb.) Bosser (ex: Flora of Pakistan). Until recent times both names were not widespread, and may have been unknown by authors reporting the common names. If those new names were known their synonymy must have been very unclear. This is a very good example of a confused vernacular based on taxonomic doubts. Given the ever present unreliability of transcriptions, the above foreign names cannot be considered as "correct" until their versions in the original scripts are found. In a nutshell : this nomenclatural work therefore needs a lot more work.
