Note : the difference in intensity of the colours between this cultivar (paler green and gold) and the species (dark-green stripes on rich-golden and green leaves) are the only distinctive characters. These characteristics change with climatic conditions to confuse the grower even further, hence the difficulties with English names. We would recommend the hybrid common names above (bolded) as preferred names in order to avoid confusion.

Git teol jook
is mentioned by the Korean Forest Research Institute and identified
as Arundinaria
hisauchii Makino.
Prof. D. Ohrnberger lists this as a synonym of either Pleioblastus chino (Franchet & Savatier) Makino or
Sasaella
hisauchii (Makino) Makino.
We welcome any feedback on this.
