Due to the facts that some authors associated the above synonym Cassia tora to Senna obtusifolia, and neglected the common names of Cassia tora varieties, there is some confusion between the names of this species and those of Senna obtusifolia above. Cassia obtusifolia L. is a synonym of Cassia tora auct., non L. or Cassia tora L. var. obtusifolia (L.) Haines, but it is not a synonym of Cassia tora L. / Senna tora (L.) Roxb.
